DATABASEs

Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database

If accessible (since it does have a paywall behind it), the Children’s Literature Comprehensive Database is a fantastic tool for locating books about Greek mythology for students of all ages. With plenty of filters to narrow down books by specific ages, grades, or reading levels, this database is specifically catered to the needs of young readers. The CLCD is best suited to public libraries or school libraries within a larger consortium, as the cost would probably be prohibitive to smaller school libraries.

JSTOR

JSTOR is an outstanding database for almost anything a college student, educator, librarian, or researcher could want. Loaded with access to professional journals, articles, and peer reviews, JSTOR is a great resource to use in reviewing new and existing materials for library collections and classroom studies. The downside to JSTOR (and most databases) is that it is only accessible behind a paywall; the upside is that it is available through most college and university libraries, as well as some public libraries.

Middle Search Plus

Middle Search Plus is an online database that connects middle-grade and middle-school students with popular and educational (or both) magazines. This includes biographical, reference, and specialized nonfiction magazines for research projects and general interest. Magazine Search Plus is available through EBSCOhost or Explora. Middle Search Plus also hosts full-text e-books, primary source materials, and videos, all aimed at reference and informational interests.
JOURNALS

The Journal of Hellenic Studies

Dating back to the late 1800s and published by the venerable Cambridge University Press, The Journal of Hellenic Studies has long been the starting point for those searching to find information about the Classical Age. While it is specifically geared towards scholars in the field (as opposed to middle-grade students), it is still a solid place for educators to go in order to gain perspective on Greek Mythology and further educate themselves before taking that information into the classroom.

The Reading Teacher

Published six times per year and made available through its support from the International Literacy Association, The Reading Teacher is a professional, peer-reviewed journal that focuses on education and classroom tips for teachers who serve in elementary classrooms. This journal includes not only articles that will support literacy in thought but also offers guides for reading, miscellaneous resources, and even classroom management tips.

The English Journal

Published by the National Council of Teachers of English, this journal is a great resource not only for middle and high-school English teachers, but it also provides resources useful to librarians--and has some great articles on Greek mythology for those ages! The English Journal includes articles that provide background and context for literature and the classics, as well as snapshots into how English teachers are breaking traditional molds in the classroom in order to excite students through cross-curricular practices.
